When I reviewed DiRT Rally 2.0 in February last year, my biggest complaint was a lack of environment variety. It was missing snow, basically.
That's not an issue with DiRT Rally 2.0 Game of the Year Edition.
Bundling up the base game with four seasons worth of content and more, DiRT Rally 2.0 Game of the Year Edition is the essential package for rally fans. For about the same price that the original game was at launch, you can nab yourself a comprehensive rally package, featuring all the environments you could ever wish for, a spectacular range of cars, and a wonderful tribute to the late Colin McRae. It's fantastic.

"DiRT Rally 2.0 Game of the Year Edition is the essential package for rally fans"
Obviously, the basics of the game are the same as what I outlined in my original review, so give that a read if you're not already aware of the nitty-gritty details. All you really need to know is that DiRT Rally 2.0 has the best handling of any really game ever, and is also stunningly beautiful to look at. But it's not for everyone; with events lasting between 5-10 minutes, a lack of difficulty settings in the game's career mode, and no rewind function, only the hardcore need apply.
Thanks to the inclusion of all four seasons of DLC content, DiRT Rally 2.0 Game of the Year Edition features seven new rally locations, more than doubling the original lineup, as well as five new rallycross locations. And on top of that, there are more than 25 new cars added across both disciplines, and a generous number of alternative liveries. Needless to say, the amount of content packing into DiRT Rally 2.0 Game of the Year is staggering. It's not a game you're going to tire of anytime soon if you pick it up.
"DiRT Rally 2.0's career mode feels richer and more unpredictable than ever"
The new cars and liveries are available to purchase with your credits in-game, and are usable in both the career and free-play. Likewise, the new locations can also pop up in your career. That means you can never be sure which conditions you might find yourself racing in, including snow if you happen to get Sweden. With everything new added into the mix, DiRT Rally 2.0's career mode feels richer and more unpredictable than ever. You're less likely to become fatigued by the whole affair because there's just so much more location variety.
The icing on DiRT Rally 2.0 Game of the Year Edition's cake, however, is the new Colin McRae FLAT OUT content. Essentially a whole new mode, FLAT OUT offers 40 challenges for you to beat, inspired by the legendary Colin McRae. Split into four periods of Colin's career, you'll re-enact some of his greatest feats and performances, with introductory videos giving you an insight into his achievements.
You might simply be tasked with finishing one or more stages with a target position, for example, or you could find yourself trying to maintain your place with a car that's seriously damaged. It adds some much needed variety to the action, and many will be pleased to find that it has a difficulty option. So, whether you're rally novice or a pro, you can join in and celebrate Colin McRae's career. And you definitely should do so if you pick DiRT Rally 2.0 Game of the Year Edition up.
For rally fans who haven't yet dived into DiRT Rally 2.0 for whatever reason, this Game of the Year Edition is essential. There's no finer looking rally game available, no other rally games handles as well, and now, no other rally game compares in terms of content. If only DiRT Rally 2.0 Game of the Year Edition wasn't so hard on players then it would be perfect. It's near enough for most, though. This is undoubtedly the best rally game available right now. And it probably will be until the next DiRT Rally emerges.
DiRT Rally 2.0 Game of the Year Edition is available on PS4, Xbox One and PC. We reviewed the Xbox One X version with code provided by the game's publisher.
